Apolonia and John with their son Christopher
Please read the entire description carefully. Apolonia and John are a married couple living in the countryside in the Lublin province. Apolonia is 76 and John is 73. They are both quite ill. Apolonia suffers from diabetes, diabetic kidney disease, hypertension, and carotid atherosclerosis. John has been struggling with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic kidney disease, anemia and - similarly to Apolonia - with arterial hypertension. They both have psycho-organic syndrome indicated in their medical history. John is also required to stay in a psychiatric hospital due to a behavioral disorder. The discussed family lives in modest conditions - they are undoubtedly not satisfactory. They live in an old wooden house without access to running water. They use water from the well that is transported via a hose. They have no money for medications, vital expenses, and cleaning products. They also require basic items, such as warm duvets and pillows.

They live with their son, 47-year-old Christopher, who has serious health problems and has been issued with a disability certificate. He would love to provide a financial support for his parents, but he struggles with the consequences of a ruptured cerebral hemangioma - he suffers from memory problems, epilepsy, as well as is unable to work. Before his health problems started, he had worked and earned money in Germany to build a house. Nevertheless, his illness thwarted his plans. He is often visited by his teenage son, who helps his dad and grandparents as much as he can. During summer, he mows the grass and in winter, he secures the fire in the stove. He is more than happy to keep his relatives company.
Our Charges are surrounded by helpful people. A female neighbor who works as a nurse helps the family with regard to buying medications and injecting Apolonia's insulin. There is also Ewa, a good person, who lives in a nearby town. Every once in a while, she comes to do some shopping and clean up. Despite the great commitment and actions performed by the discussed two women, the family really lacks almost everything. The funds raised for the family of Apolonia and John will allow them to secure their most basic needs - they will be able to purchase basic items of everyday use.
